The ranking of the world's top scientists is released! Jiang Shibo, the chief scientist of Jinbo Pharma, is on the list!

On October 10th, 2022, Elsevier released the fourth edition of the "Ranking of Top Scientists in the World", which included 195,606 scientists from 22 disciplines. Jiang Shibo, director of the Institute of Pathogenic Microbiology of Fudan University, academician of the American Academy of Microbiology, and chief scientist of Jinbo Pharma, ranked 21,001. In the field of life science (Biology+Biomedical Research+Clinical Medicine+Agriculture+Public health), 845 scientists from Chinese Mainland entered the list, and Jiang Shibo ranked 72nd.

The ranking released in October 2022 included 195,606 scientists from 22 disciplines, including 78,014 scientists labeled with the United States of America (USA), accounting for 39.88% of the total number of scientists included. 7,795 scientists marked Chinese Mainland (CHN), 852 more than the third edition, surpassed Japan and ranked fifth in the world.

So far, Jiang Shibo has published more than 600 scientific papers that have been strictly reviewed in international SCI journals, with a total citation of 40,347 times, including Nature, Nature Reviews Immunology, Nature Medicine, Nature Communication, Lancet, PNAS, J Exp Med, Lancet Inf Dis, Nature Review Microbiology, Cell, Science Translation Medicine, etc. He has applied for 32 US patents (21 authorized) and more than 50 Chinese and PCT patents. As a PI, he won 9 NIH research fund projects in the United States of America with more than 20 million dollars, and 9 research fund projects at the national, provincial and ministerial levels in China with more than 20 million yuan. He has made more than 200 academic reports in more than 30 countries. Jiang Shibo is a member of the International Society for Antiviral Research, the International AIDS Society, the American Society for Microbiology, and the Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America, an editorial consultant of The Lancet, an international top medical journal, a review editor of Emerging Microbes and Infection, a scientific editor of Plos ONE, an editorial board member of Retrovirus, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, Microbes and Infection and other magazines. He has reviewed the manuscripts of more than 60 English magazines (such as Science, Sci Trans Med, Sci Adv, Nat Med, Nat Rev Microbiol, Nat Microbiol, Nat Commun, Lancet, etc.). Besides, he is also a review committee member of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Hong Kong Research Grants Bureau (RGC), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).

The "ranking of the world's top scientists" shows the output and academic influence of scientists (citation) according to the comprehensive statistics of scholars' scientific research output, Google Scholar Metrics journal score, H index, results cited, author ranking position in the results and other parameters. This ranking has been published once a year since its release in 2018 (PLOS Biology, 10.1371/journal. pbio. 3000384) (2019 edition, PLOS Biology, 10.1371/journal. pbio. 3000918). The edition of October 10, 2022 is the fourth release of this ranking.
